Reading is adaptive in 2026. You start on a non-academic routing module — Complete the Words and Read in Daily Life. Score 4/6 or better there and the full academic passages unlock along with the 6/6 ceiling; score below and you stay on the easier path with a lower cap.

The section is shorter and adaptive. Instead of three long academic passages, you first meet a routing module built from everyday texts. Your accuracy there decides which module comes next and how high your Reading score can go.
Speed and precision on ordinary English — gap-filling and practical comprehension, not argument analysis. Students who only drilled academic passages routinely score below 4/6 here and cap their own ceiling before the academic module ever appears.
Four of six is the threshold. Aim for five so a single misread does not decide your path, and bank time on Complete the Words — it is the faster of the two routing tasks once the pattern is familiar.
The passages are shorter than pre-2026 ones, but question density is higher, so time per question is tighter. Practise the passage task under the clock rather than reading it untimed.
